Our ABA programming focusing on school readiness and communication.

We are often asked, “When should my child begin school?” Our answer: When the academic setting is appropriate! Can you child communication their wants and needs effectively? Can your child follow simple routines and instructions? Can your child manage their transitions and frustrations with minimal support?

Information

A child is typically ready for a school or classroom environment when:

  • They can learn in small group settings with some independence.

  • They benefit from natural supports (teachers, aides, visual schedules) rather than intensive 1:1 instruction.

  • They can tolerate sensory and social demands of the classroom with manageable support.

  • Collaboration between ABA providers, parents, and educators shows that the child is ready to generalize skills to a broader setting.

Information

How the Transition Usually Works

  • The process is gradual — starting with short classroom visits or part-time school attendance.

  • ABA services might continue in a consultative role to support school staff, or as after-school sessions focusing on maintenance and generalization.

  • Ongoing data collection ensures the child continues to thrive without intensive therapy.
